Mugshots: A Celebration of the Journey From Ruin to Redemption
Over two hundred pages filled with striking black and white photography and dramatic real-life stories from some of Hollywood s most successful artists who describe with extraordinary honesty their journeys from ruin to redemption. A beautifully designed book and cleverly conceived work of photojournalism, Mugshots is at once a work of art and an inspiration
Review
Mugshots is one of the most beautiful books I ve ever seen. Line up all of the self-help books written by phony, falsely smiling gurus and you won t get a fraction of the inspiration that s packed into the pages of this brilliant collection of stories, illustrated by the most fierce and honest photography I ve witnessed in a very long time. Mugshots is a frightening, shocking and perfectly conceived book from writer Jason Porath and photographer Jonas Mohr. ----Soho Journal, New York City
Heartening nuggets of encouragement, redemption, and tenacity are weaved together in this provocatively honest rendering of the everyday hero's journey. Told through impetuous, rousing, and yet tender photography, Mugshots will touch a chord in every reader's heart. --Urbanbooksource.com
"The photographs alone are brilliant, every face tells a thousand stories of hardship, perseverance, redemption, and inspiration. Having worked with and being friends with several of the people in Mugshots, I have personally witnessed their triumphs and celebrate their stories of struggle and survival in this wonderful book." --Steve Buscemi, Actor
From the Inside Flap
Unlock the door and inside you will find a collection of outlaws and outsiders: the committed and the condemned. Look into their eyes. Follow the tunnel behind dark pupils, read the cavernous lines and hard edges of their faces and experience the trials they endured. They are ex-convicts, former drug addicts and gang members who became physically or psychologically imprisoned and sentenced to the fringes of life.
Left alone and stripped bare of their freedom, they looked for the one voice that could save them; their own. Each one confronted the choices that led them to ruin, challenged their self-imposed limitations, and committed to break free from their past.
Each one emerged victorious, with a renewed spirit and a burning desire never to return.
Armed with will rather than weapons, the thirty-eight artists portrayed here fashioned themselves into poets and performers in the furnace of adversity. Their body of work emerged from the wellspring of their experiences. Their lives celebrate second chances and salvation.
And they came to make it in the one place that didn't discriminate against them, Hollywood. With their survival instincts, determination and hard-won wisdom, "breaking in" now takes on a whole new meaning.
From the Back Cover
"The photographs alone are brilliant, every face tells a thousand stories of hardship, perseverance, redemption, and inspiration. Having worked with and being friends with several of the people in Mugshots, I have personally witnessed their triumphs and celebrate their stories of struggle and survival in this wonderful book."
-Steve Buscemi, actor/director
"Mugshots represents the triumph of the human spirit. These are stories of people who chose to live, to overcome the harsh reality of their lives and make a difference to the world. Their journey out of darkness is powerful and important. It teaches us to know there is hope, there is a second chance, there is redemption."
-James Keach, producer, "Walk the Line"
"By exposing the reader to folks whose voices hover around the margins, Mugshots has advanced the noble movement towards kinship. This fine book stands with those on the margins and helps us all imagine the day when the margins themselves will have been erased."
-Father Gregory Boyle, Director of Jobs For a Future and Homeboy Industries

The principle behind Zumba is incredibly simple: get fit, have fun. That’s it. There are no complicated moves to learn and you don’t need the coordination of a standard aerobics class – or the partner you’d require for a traditional salsa class.
Best of all, the music is so infectious that you barely even notice you’re exercising. ‘It’s like being at a party,’
It is easy-to-follow so people don’t have to think too much about what they’re doing and can just get into it. Then of course the music is great, and just makes you want to dance.
It’s a cardio-based workout which also helps tone and sculpt the body and It’s a great way to lose weight, to increase strength and coordination, and to foster self-esteem and pure happiness! That is why so many people love it and get addicted to it.
There’s a Zumba for nearly everyone, whether you’re seventeen (clad in clingy dance gear) or seventy (firmly in baggy t-shirt and bottoms). Zumba Gold classes are aimed specifically at older people (you can even do Zumba sitting in a chair) while a new Zumba Kids programme is being rolled out later in the year However much you might baulk at the idea of shaking your booty to a swinging Latin beat, it seems that, in the coming months, no-one in the UK is going to be immune from Zumba. In fact, don’t even try to resist: give in, get up and join the party.
